Introduction

Business studies is a fundamental component of students learning and understanding of the world they live in from the different reasons organisations exist to marketing techniques used to the factors affecting the success of an organisation.

Subject Leader: Mrs H Scott

The main concepts of this subject are to explore a range of local business enterprises, plan and pitch a viable business idea. The subject enables students to develop and equips them with a range of knowledge and skills such as research, finance and marketing, to be able to set up and run a successful enterprise. The student's skill set improves and new skills are developed which include communication and presentation, team working, leadership, resilience and the ability to learn how to work independently.

At key stage 4, students who have an interest in this subject can opt to study Pearson GCSE business studies or Pearson BTEC Technical Award in business and enterprise.
