GCSE Dance Trip - Matthew Bournes Sleeping Beauty

Year 10 GCSE Dancers recently had the opportunity to see Matthew Bourne's ‘Sleeping Beauty’ at the Liverpool Empire. This was a fantastic experience for the students to see alternative choreography work, the extravagant and magical costumes and set, which will really heighten their love and appreciation of dance. As part of the GCSE, students need to critically analyse professional dance works, looking into the aspects of production that supports the audiences understanding of choreography and this was is a great opportunity for students to practice these skills.

First Anniversary of MCHS Remembrance Tree

On the 31st March 2022 we purchased a small blossom tree chosen by MCHS students to plant in the schools Wellbeing Garden to help remember the people we had lost over covid and people who we had lost at other times in our lives.  The children joined together to plant it and to remember those important people, sharing memories and supporting each other by standing together in quiet respect.

This year we got together again with students and staff to join us, remembering why we planted the tree, enjoying its first blossom and to share special memories.

UNILEVER COMPETITION WINNERS!

Year 8 students entered into a STEM Unilever competition to design a cosmetic product made from sustainable materials. The students made a soap aimed at children, designed in the shape of a duck and once used, they could break the beak off to to plant a seed it contained.

Students presented a PowerPoint presentation to judges, and answered panel questions on how their product works. They designed three prototypes, the first being a clay model and the others a painted 3D
printed model. The students displayed the prototypes in a well-crafted display box with a QR code, which when scanned led the customer to an advert.

The team beat 25 other schools and won! They were absolutely fantastic and a credit to the school. Not only did they get a trophy, but also they will get to see their product being made at Unilever in the future. Well
done Marita, Eva, Martha and Natalia !
