The main aims of Merseyside Police Safer Schools Officer are to offer help, support and advice to young people in order to assist them in making the correct choices in life. Through engaging students, providing education and establishing trusting relationships, PC Howard offers students a positive role model who will help them through school life and beyond.
Since arriving at Meols Cop High School in 2013, PC Margaret Howard has worked alongside the Headteacher and her staff, helping to create an opportunity for both students and their parents or carers to discuss any number of matters which involve their loved ones inside and outside of school. Working alongside a professional group of colleagues and based within the Inclusion Team office, PC Howard is very much a part of the school’s safeguarding program. She is ideally placed to support all students within school, should they feel the need to speak with her.
PC Howard holds mediation sessions with students, known as Restorative Justice; this enables young people to work together in a harmonious setting. She has become an active part of school’s Personal and Social Development program, offering expert advice on a range of topics that include Internet safety, bullying, drugs and the Law.
She also works closely with local residents and other members of our school community to establish positive links and can be seen regularly patrolling outside of school each morning to ensure our children get in to school safely and on time.
If you feel the need, please contact PC Howard via the school.
