GCSE Science intervention
Welcome to the Meols Cop Science intervention page. In order to improve your GCSE science grade you need to attempt to complete and review as many past papers as possible.
When you click on the link below you will gain access to the Edexcel web page relating to the GCSE Core science course. If you scroll down the page to “Question Papers” there are past papers from all units available for you to download. The more recent papers are secure downloads which are for teacher access only.
You can complete these multiple choice papers by writing down the correct letter for each question on a piece of paper.
Then you can check your answers by going to the “Mark schemes” area. Some mark schemes are individually listed, others only appear by date, but they are all there. This will enable you to see which questions you have done well on and also provide you with information about your areas of weakness, therefore allowing you to target your revision accordingly.
Also on the website, you will find “Examiner’s reports” which you can look at to see how the examiners evaluated student responses overall. At the very end of each examiners report, you will also find the grade boundaries which will allow you to work out what grade you would have achieved on each paper.
If you need any further help or explanation of how to use this website, please ask your science teacher as soon as possible – before the summer holiday so that you can revise effectively during the summer break. In the holidays you can e-mail a science teacher using their school e-mail:
