Further Education Colleges
We have excellent links with KGV College, Southport College and Hugh
Baird College. In Key Stage 4 all students have the opportunity to go
to these colleges to meet students already on courses there and to talk
to tutors, helping them to make important decisions about their future.
The majority of our students go on to further their education at one of these colleges and are highly successful.
Higher Education
We have extended our links with Higher Education, particularly
Liverpool University, Lancaster University, Liverpool Hope, Edge Hill
and the University of Central Lancashire. Activities have included an
Introduction to Higher Education for Parents, and a Higher Education
Summer School for some of our students.
Work Experience
This takes place in Year 10 when students go out into the workplace
to gain a valuable insight and experience in a job they are interested
in. Placements can be arranged in almost any field of work and there
are plenty of opportunities for developing new skills.
The placement involves a mock interview with an employer.
Primary Schools
We have very successful links with our feeder primary schools. Our
drama specialist visits these schools on a regular basis to support the
Key Stage 2 curriculum and children visit our school for various
activities.
We find that this helps to make the transition from primary to
secondary school much easier for the children as they become more
familiar with their new school.
Charities
Every year group adopts a charity and they are encouraged to take part in fund raising activities.
